But it had to be with no welding current applied. It just became a habit for me after a while. I would see if this helps before ripping out the points. Also, it makes no sense to me that the HF would work fine on DC but not AC.

WebEverlast Tig Owners: 210EXT vs 255EXT. I'm in the market for a TIG. My shop had an off-brand Chinese unit for years, so I'm not too afraid of the offshore brands. It looks as though the Everlast brand is the best of the offshore makes. While it's for work, I really only weld for a project here and there. I think I can deal with the known caveats.
