WebFeb 5, 2009 · Queensland's earliest endeavours toward constructing a railway were through the activities of the Moreton Bay Tramway Company. The company intended to construct a tramway with horses hauling vehicles on timber rails, surveying a route between Ipswich and Toowoomba in 1861. WebFeb 26, 2024 · The 1960 Medway Creek (Bogantungan) rail accident remains one of the worst in Queensland’s history. Seven lives were lost: three crew and four passengers, including two children. Many people were injured. The event occurred 59 years ago but, for those involved, the memories linger.
