They might also consume the eggs of a bird, or their nestlings. Squirrels are scavengers and tend to just eat whatever they happen to come across each day. We haven’t tried this with rats, but we did try it when we had a squirrel problem. The birds and the squirrels both loved the spicy seed mix!
